Sometimes we get questions. We can answer questions. But when we get questions more than once, we'd rather answer them directly. We'll do that here. If you have a question that is not listed here, contact us: [email protected].
The prices includes travel from the Biddinghuizen port to the island (and back on Saturday), food for 5 days, drinks for 5 days, a bed in one of the tents and access to the event including all social events.
We have boats going to the island from the harbor next to Landal Waterparc Veluwemeer. If you get there by car, set your navigation to Strandweg 1 in Biddinghuizen. There is free parking at the small harbor.
If you're coming by public transport, make your way to Harderwijk Trainstation and take bus 147 towards Emmeloord. Get out at the Flevostrand bus stop. From there, you'll have to walk for a few minutes towards the Landal Waterparc Veluwemeer apartments. Next to the apartment building, there is a small harbor where our boat leaves.
At this point in time (March 2020) we see no reason to cancel our event. We are monitoring the situation closely and are actively following the statements of the Dutch government to determine whether we can go ahead as planned.
It is impossible to predict what form COVID-19 will have by the time it is August, but we will look at any measures possible. This may include extra hand sanitizer to be made available, additional training for our first aid responders, etc.
That is not a question! Also, WeCamp is not a holiday. We aim for every attendee to learn from this event. A lot. Not just about technology, but also about planning, social skills, presentation, marketing. Everything!
Sure! Although we focus mainly on PHP, if you are a designer, frontender or other developer, you could still learn a lot. About PHP, but also about soft skills, planning, marketing, presentation, teamwork etc. It is up to you to decide whether this will be useful to you, but we really think it could be useful.
No! The island has tents, beds (yes, real beds) and everything provided for you. Do bring your own laptop, clothes, towels and toothbrush though.
Only if you are worried that it might get chilly at night, you could bring an extra sleeping bag.
We have experience with catering vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free meals. Please drop us an e-mail at [email protected] or mention this during your registration.
If you have special dietary needs, please mail us and we'll try to cater to these needs as much as we possibly can. In case of doubt, please mail us before registering and we will check what options there are.
Tent assignment is done nearly randomly. We will have separate female and male tents, but aside from that, you may be put into a tent with a random set of attendees.
Always contact the staff! All staff will be clearly identified at the start of the event and there will always be at least one member of staff available immediately. You will find the phone number of an emergency contact on the black board in the main tent.
